This 1940s Clayton home received a major overhaul. The client was looking to place an en-suite bathroom, smaller walk-in closet and space for laundry into the room’s previous footprint. Chelsea Design and Wise Bros. LLC removed the old back staircase connecting the primary bedroom to the second floor to create space for the new bathroom. The new space had enough room for a narrow bathroom, large walk-in shower and water closet, a new primary closet and a laundry room with access to the main hall. Due to the layout of the space, the vanity could only be placed in front of a window. To combat this challenge, a trough sink, deep counter space and two custom mounted swivel mirrors were added for storage and convenience. A standout feature includes the tall linen cabinets that feature lattice panels thrifted by the client, then painted and fit within the new doors.

Why the judges love it: The thrifted, wood center panels are a standout feature in this bathroom transformation! The designer was also incredibly clever with their use of functional swivel mirrors to solve the problem of the vanity sitting in front of a window.
