The home, built in 1909, was one of the first mansions constructed in University City. The current owners have transformed the entire home, and it was time for the master bath to be refreshed. RSI Kitchen & Bath was challenged with turning a small bathroom with one pedestal sink, toilet and clawfoot tub into a luxurious master suite. The owners had been showering inside the small clawfoot tub for years, so a separate shower was at the top of the list of must-haves for the new design. The design called for repurposing four rooms and part of a hallway to create the new layout, which would include a bathroom, a functional closet and a room just for shoes. The final design doubled the size of the bathroom and allowed for his-and-her vanity areas, a two-person shower and a separate toilet room with a linen cabinet. The clawfoot tub was situated into the new bathing area to provide for a quiet, relaxing space with a comfortable chair. Classic-styled cabinetry, durable quartz countertops, marble-look porcelain wall tile and heated tile floors create a timeless look. Venetian gold faucets and accents add that extra touch of luxury. The elements all combine to achieve a grand master bathroom suite that will hopefully endure the next 100 years.

Why the judges love it: We love how the style of the new design still fits with the period of the home. A beautiful mix of traditional details with a nod to a more updated look done in a clean way. This new layout is so much more functional.
