Executive home on 20 acres in Wildwood, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis.

Architecture & Design:

  • Stone and plaster exterior.
  • Designed to repilcate the Civilian Conservation Corps architecture found in the adjoining Edmund A. Babler State Park.
  • The home's interior features hardwood floors, slate floors, tile floors, tile showers, tile wainscot, quarter sawn white oak cabinets made by the Amish, granite countertops, beamed ceilings. All dors & trim are stained pine.

Energy Efficient Features:

  • This wildwood custom home was designed to be energy efficient. The exterior walls are 2x6 with sprayed open cell foam to seal the exterior of the wall cavity and create a vapor/air barrier.
  • Blow fiberglass was applied to fill the stud cavity completely. The rim joist and all windows were also sealed with foam. After the drywall was applied to the ceilings, the attic side was sprayed with foam to finish the vapor/air barrier and to complete the building envelope. The attic was completed with blown fiberglass.
  • The heating and cooling is a Geo Comfort, Geo Thermal heat pump system. The house was designed to use a HRV (heat recovery ventilator). After the energy audit/blower doors test was complete, it was determined the house was so well insulated (no cold spots) that it would be necessary to use mechanical ventilation for fresh make up air - as designed.
