Perfect Porches for the Fourth

Perfect Porches for the Fourth

Written By: Alison Murphy

The summer celebration of red, white and blue with fireworks in the sky is almost here! We believe that the best way to show that patriotism is by decorating, of course! These DIY Fourth of July porches are simple ways to show your spirit without having to do any permanent damage to the outside space of your home.

Flags are the perfect way to make a statement and bring a great deal of color. These bunting flags are accompanied by a hanging basket on the front door filled with smaller American flags, and other red, white and blue things.

If you have a covered porch, hanging American flag colored ornaments, streamers or pennants can add height to your decor. Placing an American flag against the wall of your porch can create depth while colorful throw pillows on your outdoor furniture add comfort and charm.

A cute decor idea that can brighten your porch all summer long is a festive flower arrangement! For red flowers you can use zinnias, petunias, salvias, begonias and geraniums. White flowers can be white petunias, white vinca or white impatiens. As for blue blossoms, try purplish-blue petunias, blue lobelias, blue salvias and bluebells.

Stars and stripes painted pots add a charming and even more festive touch.

Allow your porch to shine at night as well with string lights! No need to buy any special July Fourth colored light. Vintage bulb lights can shine on your flags and other decorations perfectly.
