Cape Wind is the name of what will be America’s first offshore wind farm located off the coast of Cape Cod, Mass. Cape Wind has secured all of its federal and state permits and its commercial lease and is now in its financing phase to secure the capital required to begin construction.  Cape Wind’s 130 offshore wind turbines will supply 75 percent of the electricity used on Cape Cod and the Islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, creating jobs, producing clean energy and helping to build a new offshore clean energy industry in the United States.

Situated along the coast of the Red Sea, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology is Saudi Arabia’s first LEED-certified project, and at the time of its certification it was the world’s largest LEED Platinum project. Designed by HOK, the university includes the world’s most advanced laboratories, equipment and instrumentation in the field of science. The team from HOK had 30 months to design the campus, constructing 5.5 million square feet of complex across 27 buildings.

Security Building, St. Louis, Mo.

The Security Building is the first historic building in Missouri to receive LEED Silver certification. Originally designed by the renowned firm of Peabody, Stearns and Furber, the 117,000-square-foot structure was renovated by The Lawrence Group. The Lawrence Group provided architectural, interior design and development and construction services. The six-level atrium addition above the domed lobby entrance was the centerpiece of the building. The Lawrence Group saved energy by creating an atrium within the natural space formed by the U-shaped building, making interior walls of the buildings’ original exterior. The Lawrence Group removed years of thick black coating on a dramatic glass dome ceiling in the lobby, creating a skylight above the atrium that lets natural light spill into the lobby.
